Loyalty Towards Skills, Not Your Employer

Loyalty won't help you much nowadays.

Spent too much at a company and people will think you are playing too safe, and most probably you haven't done much on skill upgradation/expansion front, and you will not survive for long outside, at least that's what people ill say.

Instead, do this: Strike a balance between taking on new positions and roles to increase your range of skills, even at your present company, and it mustn't be stressed enough- become known (inside and outside) for being really good at some stuff.

If you are unable to develop your skills any more at your current job or position, time to find a new job.

So, be loyal to your 'skills bank'- add stuff to it often.
